Elvington Track Day 13th October

One of our last events of the 2001 season took place on Saturday 13th October, at Elvington airfield, near York.

Organised in conjunction with Bookatrack (www.bookatrack.com), the day saw 33 club members and a few guests arrive at Elvington. A brilliant circuit had been set up, and with loads of run off, with no barriers or fences to hit, a great day followed.

Some of the highlights were passenger rides being allowed free of charge, so many had trips round in other member’s cars. The Bookatrack team were also giving passenger rides in some tremendously quick cars, again for free!

Revs magazine had asked to feature the event, and their photographer and reporter were wandering taking snaps and talking to people all day. The feature will be in the magazine in the next few months.

Simon’s GTI-R brakes fail in spectacular fashion!

The caliper pistons wore through a set of EBC Redstuff pads and through the backing plates in two sessions on track !

Everyone thoroughly enjoyed it, many people went through a pair of tyres, and I would recommend taking spares or cheap tyres to future events there!
