In your travels through this strange plane of consciousness, spare a thought for others. Other people who have never heard of the Internet, Netscape or don't have a PC. There are many people like this in the world - vast though the internet may seem, not everyone has access to it.

Amnesty International

So spare a thought for those people who, through no fault of there own may be imprisoned, even tortured. This is what Amnesty International does. It tries to help people who have been imprisoned because of their beliefs, some of them even face the death penalty.

Helping them could be easier than you think - and may involve the simple act of writing a letter. Membership of Amnesty costs about £20 per year - this goes towards helping people - helping to set them free.

Amnesty has managed to secure the release of over 3000 people - so it is a worthwhile cause to support - join them by clicking here. Now.:

Carewatch

How old are you? Under 20? Over 30? Well, it really doesn't matter because, it's one of those sure things - "it's as plain as your nose" - you will get old. Better living standards for most, better healthcare and advances in medical science mean that generally, there are more and more people who are living longer. Some of our elderly people outlive all their friends and relatives. They are therefore left very much on their own. Typically, they can find it difficult to get around and may even be completely housebound. What would you do in this situation? You can't go out and no one comes to visit.

Wouldn't you be glad of a visitor? Wouldn't you be glad if you had the opportunity to get out for a day and meet others?

This is what Nottingham Carewatch tries to help with. It matches people who would like a visitor to those who are willing to give up an hour or 2 hours per week to do the visiting.
