"Dirt" by Death In VegasFive remixes (count em) on the b-side. As ever, some are good, some are bad, and all of them last that little bit too long. Ban the remix now. Rating: 7/10
The Rest"The Magic Piper" by Edwyn CollinsYou used to be in Orange Juice, one of the most influential pop groups of its time - if not ever. Then, a while back, you had a major comeback hit with the frankly rather good "Girl Like You". How you must have rejoiced. Even Vic and Bob loved you. That does not give you the excuse to release a blatant and frankly rather poor Beck rip-off in the shape of "Magic Piper" however. Even if it sounds a little bit like De La Soul too. Yours ever respectfully, HeadCleaner. PS. The b-sides are slightly better (especially the 70s Starsky and Hutch glam of Red Menace), but you must face facts: history has decided you are now a novelty. Rating: 4/10
"Sun" by John LydonYou used to be in Sex Pistols, one of the most influential groups of its time - if not ever. Then, a while back, you had a major comeback hit with the frankly rather good "Open Up". How you must have rejoiced. Everyone loved you again - even with those suits you wore. That does not give you the excuse to release an embarrassing directionless singsong mess in the shape of "Sun" however. Even if Leftfield remixed it for you. Yours ever respectfully, HeadCleaner. PS. The b-sides are if anything slightly worse (especially the excrutiating mix of daft buggering about song "Psychopath"), so you must face facts: history has decided you are now a novelty. Rating: 3/10
