Toy Story 2 (2000)
I want all the toys in this film (I will take out a loan if
necessary).
I want to do a trolley-dash in Al's Toy Barn.
I especially want that battling robots game that I once sliced my finger
open on many many years ago.
I want to take all my old toys down from the attic and reassure them that I
still love them, and chastise myself for forsaking them for cigarettes and
alcohol.
I want to see this all over again.
Priceless. You forget the fact that it is computer-generated after about 10
seconds, and get swept along by the jokes (both the ones for the kids, and
the parodies & innuendoes for us smug grown-ups), the plot (a fast-paced and
edge of the seat rescue mission that puts the likes of Mission Impossible to
shame), the pathos (Jessie's song had me sniffling into my pick n mix), the
dialogue& voice acting and the whole nigh-perfect feel of the thing.
Watching Toy Story 2 was almost like watching a DVD movie - the Dinosaurs
trailer, the Luxo Jr short, the excellent out-takes at the end - heck, I
even enjoyed the Cadburyland adverts and trailers for things like Stuart Little
and The Tigger Movie.
But of course, the undisputed highlight was Toy Story 2 itself: bigger,
brighter, sharper and altogether better than its ground-breaking
predecessor.
Take it from the top, Wheezy...
