Castle Irondune
In the middle of the Desert River Province, lies the imposing edifice of Castle Irondune. Home to the warlike General Thaddeus Kane, Irondune is a grim place, filled with mementoes of war and conflict.
In a letter to his son, Kaine refers to a broken dagger. In the long room with the piano, on the chairs to the right as you enter, lies the dagger hilt. Pick this up and take it to the mount above the fireplace. Place it here to make it whole and to see an episode from the past. Once finished, take the complete dagger and place it in the scabbard of the black knight.
A grinding sound tells you that the museum door has opened...
In the museum are five stained-glass windows depicting warriors throughout the ages. Look at all of these carefully and note whether the warriors' helmet visors are down or up. Throughout the castle are five suits of armour that match those in the windows. Each of these can have its visor position moved.
Set the visors as they are in the windows to open the door leading down to the torture chamber.
The door to the battle room is at the far end of the long room with the piano and fireplace in it. To open this, you must first be in possession of the packet of gunpowder - found in Lucien's room. Locate the ornate dog canon and operate its ear. This will cause the machinery to insert the "bones" into the dog's mouth. Now, operate its tail. This opens up the chamber, allowing you to insert the gunpowder.
Close the chamber and turn the ear again to blow up the door to the battle room.
The radio is found in the Battle in Progress cabinet. This is a direct link to the front line, so you must input the orders into the radio and press enter to put an end to the siege of Castle Irondune.
The required code to do this can be deciphered from the battle-plan map in Kaine's chest and from the numeric messages hidden on Lucien's easel. The ghostly voices in the torture chamber also give the required digits - but not in the correct order!
The tank is Thaddeum powered. To operate it, you must remove the Thaddeum from Kaine's museum exhibit (contained within the bottle) and carry it out to the tank. Once the Thaddeum has been deposited in the correct place, the tank can then be operated.
The tank requires a 6-digit code to make it go. The required code can be found in the games room, by looking at the order of the balls after the pool machine has been operated.
Once in Kaine's secret laboratory, first operate the Molding Primer, giving it the pattern associated with Kaine before pulling the lever. Take the resultant mould down to the furnace room, placing it in the appropriate place in the machine.
Now, operate the buttons on the temperature panel until the correct temperature is reached (a tone should sound). The arm of the machine can then be operated to bring out the molten iron. It is still too hot to touch, however...
