| Notes for William Codrington esq. |
|
The Following Codringtons may possibly have been alive in the
1690's
when William was born: Coppleston Codrington, John Codrington
John Codrington was retarded from birth, Coppleston was alive in 1685, but most likely died in the wars with the French, possibly the attack on Barbuda in 1690 There are no records of his marriage or death to date.
Most likely paternity is Gen Christopher Codrington and "Maudlin Marianus" noted in wills of Christopher Codrington II 1698 and Christopher Codrington III 1710. The chronology works quite well, and the apparent status of the child as interpreted from the bequests in the wills indicates he was treated as a family member or "cousin". - Research continues.
