Film and Stage Credits

The County School station team are always delighted to see the site used as a film location and as a resource for local drama groups. This page details some of our "starring roles".

1959, "Diesel Train Driver" (B.T.C. Training Film)

A large amount of the instructional film for drivers converting from steam to diesel multiple units was filmed in and around the station.

1966, "Weavers Green" (Anglia Television)

The station served as Weavers Green station in the Anglia Television soap opera of the same name.

Filming mostly employed the now-demolished island platform buildings. This soap opera centred on the lives of two vets in an East Anglian village. The main characters were played by Grant Taylor (Alan Armstrong) and Eric Flynn (Geoffrey Toms). It also featured a young Susan George and Kate O'Mara.

1992, "'Allo 'Allo" (BBC)

The station became the "Gare de Nouvion" in one of the final episodes. A mock SNCF carriage was built in the platform and the "Hommes" door which was blown off while Herr Otto Flick was examining the Fallen Madonna is, in reality, our tea room!

Some of the timber from the carriage was later used to fit out the bar coach now in use at Dereham, while the green louvre shutters survived in the County School P-Way hut until they were smashed by vandals.

October 2000, "Town and Country" (Anglia Television)

A special program to celebrate the Watts Naval School was partly filmed on the station.

January 2004, "The Ghost Train" (Norwich Maddermarket)

The station provided props for this play, as well as inspiration for the stage setting.

February 2004, "Title Unknown"

County School became Thetford in a private film about the first arrival of American troops at Thetford in WW2.

June 2004, "The Vackees" (Fakenham Junior School)

The station provided props and accessories for this production.
