William Morris was a wonderful English designer, 1844-1896. He designed wallpapers, fabrics, and tapestries. He was also a poet and a writer. His patterns are still admired and copied by modern designers.
He used flowers and leaves, to produce patterns which are full of life and movement.
William Morris designed patterns which are meant to be tiled. This makes them ideal for use on web pages, as background patterns, borders, or friezes. I hope you enjoy these images, which are based on a famous design called Strawberry Thief produced in 1883.
