Slugs The best time to find slugs is in spring, summer and autumn from March to November on rainy days in places like a long wet garden, under wood, in garden soil, compost heap piles, rotting leaves, under stones, lettuce and other garden plants.

Parts Of A Slug

Long Tentacles
Long tentales are the eyes of slugs. Slugs don't have eyelids. Their eyes are back down the tentacle to protect it.
Mouth Parts.
Slugs have a tiny mouth. Under the tenticles it has hundreds of tiny teeth. It eats scraps of food.
Foot
Slugs don't have any legs! A slug's foot is called a muscle. A slug doesn't have bones.
Slime
A slug leaves a silver trail.
Airhole
On the right of the slug's mantle is a small hole where it breathes.
Mantle

At the top of a slug, the raised parts are called its mantle.

Slugs Through The Year

In spring slugs wake from hibernation and lay eggs. In autumn the eggs hatch. In summer slugs stay in damp places. Autumn is damper. In winter slugs burrow deep.
