Through The Year
Winter: In winter woodlice burrow down into rotting leaves or the earth, to protect themselves from the cold.
Spring or summer: adult male and female woodlice mate . They always mate in complete darkness,so you won't be able to see them doing it. After a female woodlice has mated, she moults. Her new skin has a brood pouch. It looks like a creamy - white bag between her front legs. In a few days she lays eggs into her brood pouch. She may lay as many as 200 eggs. The eggs hatch inside her brood pouch, about 25 days after she lays them. A few days after they hatch, the tiny young woodlice come out of the brood pouch. They look like adult woodlice , except that they are white, and have only six pairs of legs. But they soon moult, and their new skin has seven pairs.
