In 1881the family are at 10 Manners St, Macduff with Alexander, Helen, John, Isabella, James. In 1891 at 12 Manners St. with Isabella and James. James testified to his father's death in 1896. In 1861 Helen McKay is at 17 Mariners St, Macduff with her 4 year old illegitimate son, William Morrison, and her 13 year old step-daughter Margaret McKay. I'm not sure if this is Alexander's daughter or his sister as the 1851 census has a Margaret aged 3 as his sister. It is possible he took over care of his sister when their parents died.
I know there are relations that went to the States - Duff McKay, William McKay. There are also Thompson cousins on this side somewhere and also connections with the Salvation Army.
