O'GRADY /GEDDES

PEOPLE and PLACES

MOSS-SIDE COTTAGE, SLAMANNAN, STIRLINGSHIRE
Thomas O'Grady, his wife Margaret Flemming Johnston and family, lived in this small cottage. The 1891 census shows that eight of their children and Thomas's mother, Mary Taylor, were all crammed together in this two roomed "but and ben". The family were recorded under the name of Geddes as they were in 1881, even though the children were still born as O'Grady.
LUIB HOTEL, KILLIN, PERTHSHIRE
Duncan Macgregor and Mary Geddes (O'Grady) were married here in 1892. They both worked at the Inneshewan farm just up the road, Duncan as a ploughman and Mary as a maidservant.
