Gig Guide

Below is a list of venues where I'll be playing soon. For gigs with a cover charge, if you print off this page and call it a flier, you can get £1 off the regular admission price. You can also e-mail me if you'd like me to send a proper flier by return e-mail or a blank flier so you can keep it on file and fill in details for any gigs you plan to attend. Please don't forget to bring the fliers to the gigs- the venues need to know how many people show up to see each particular act in order to justify a rebooking. E-mail me if you have any questions: a.sebastianscott@ukonline.co.uk

GIG REVIEWS

Troubadour Eclectic

Adrianne brings to her songs the kind of wry humour that manages to be ever so slightly world-weary without making you reach for the razor blades. just when you thought you knew where the song is going, she takes you by surprise and shifts it all a whol e gear or three further than you were quite prepared for. which keeps you on your toes and makes for a gloriously refreshing approach to singing/songwriting.

The River Bar

Canadian born Adrianne is chirpy and upbeat when we meet, and wastes no time in plying me with diet coke as we sit down in the cramped confines of the none-more-muso River Bar. Scatty and earnest, she's oddly nervous about this showcase gig tonight but more concerned about her imminent eviction from 'deepest darkest Lewisham', given her pedigree in music, playing guitar and singing, 'since forever'. In fact, she's no stranger to performance, either.

As well as playing and singing for yonks in Canada and France she's also appeared on screen and TV, including adverts for BT and a film with celebrated actor John Voight. Then there's the time working for various radio stations, including Radio Luxembourg and pirate station Radio Caroline. So how cool was that, then? 'Well, it's weird,' she laughs, 'We used to have these conferences where people could come and meet us. And they were total anoraks! I mean, here we were, this boat full of DJ's drifting around at sea, and these people just wanted to know silly things, like what brand of cable was used to go from the booth to the control room! I admit that I can be very anal and obsessive myself - I'll get excited about stereo placement and bore people for hours about it - but, good God, this was RADIO CAROLINE! There were so many interesting questions they could have asked!"

With such a broad mix of experience, you'd expect a unique take on songwriting, certainly. Adrianne doesn't disappoint. Referring to her song 'Don't Want', she laughs 'Well, I just thought the word 'licentious' didn't appear enough in songs'. Joe Parker

I'll be doing some new material, as well as the usual things like "Incubus". I haven't been here before, but it sounds well cool. Hope you can make it. Here's the flier.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

September 20 (Tuesday) King's Head, 49 Chiswell St, Moorgate tube I'll be on sometime between 10:00 and 10:45. No cover charge. Several acts, starting at 8:00. Really friendly student crowd

October 28 (Tuesday)King's Head, 49 Chiswell St, Moorgate tube I'll be on at 10:00 for four songs. No cover charge. It starts at 8:00.

Weird News: IRN (Independant Radio News) are going to be doing some tests on satellite and for some odd reason they're going to broadcast a variety of things instead of just DMF tones. Including my CD! I'm not certain when or what frequency, but I'll post the details when I find out.

August 13 (Wednesday), Pintxos Tapas Bar, the Barbican, Barbicon tube or Moorgate tube, or whatever seems appropriate...check the A-Z . I've never been here before, so I have no idea what it's like. The Barbican is a bit of a maze, but they told me that it's easiest to use Gate 3 from Barbicon tube and that the bar is under something called the Shakespeare Tower: "If music be the food of love, play on/ Give me excess of it", etc. They're just starting out having live music. No cover charge. I'll be on from 8 to 9 or 10 o'clock. I hope all the dental crap will be finished by then so I can have a cup of tea without screaming. Although it adds a certain physical realism to the emotional trauma of some of the songs, doesn't it?

August 20 (Wednesday), Gate Bar and Restaruant, 87 Notting Hill Gate, London W11 ( next door to the Gate Cinema, 10 seconds walk from Notting Hill Gate tube). It's the welcome return of the Kashmir Klub (though it's no longer called that). I'm not on at any specific time, and everyone plays a bit in the first half of the evening and a bit in the second, so you'll hear a little of all the acts. Doors open at 7:30, show starts around 9:00.No cover charge before 8:00. £3 from 8pm-10.30pm After 10:30pm, there is a door charge of £5. After 11.30pm they also have the usual Notting Hillibilies / media / music industry & Gate regular crowd for a full-on party till 1am. There's also a restaurant: ring 0207-727 9007 for reservations.

Sept 21 (Saturday). Luxembourg: details of exact time and place to be announced. It's NOT a normal gig, though there is singing involved. It's a comedy thing I'll be doing with Steve Preston called 'Row of Tents' (as in 'as camp as a row of tents'). Those of you who have seen us do it before will know that from now until the night of the performance I'll be praying desperately that I'll be able to hit the insanely high note in 'The Indian Love Call' and that I won't fall over during the violent dance routine... and also shopping for a suitably hideous ballgown.

July 18 (Friday). Bedlam, 13 Heath Streeet, to the left of Hampstead tube (Northern line). It's a restaurant they hope will turn into a Greenwich Village-style hangout. There's no cover charge, the food isn't expensive, it's air conditiioned, and famous Hampstead residents have already favoured it with their presence. I'll be on for several sets between 7:00 and 9:00, so I'll be playing virtually everything I've ever written. Including a strident one I've never played in public before, largely because part of it came about through a 'fridge poetry' experiment and there are a couple of embarrassingly pretentious lines as a result (don't worry - the magnet with 'languid' written on it was tossed into the bin immediately...). If I occasionally sound unusually angst-ridden, it will be because I'm half-way through a root canal job. Perhaps I should do a David Bowie cover - he knows all about the pain of dentistry.

June 24 (Wednesday) King's Head, 49 Chiswell St, Moorgate tube I'll be on at 9:00 for half an hour. No cover charge. Several acts, starting at 8:00. Really friendly student crowd. They seem noisy, but they actually listen attentively to everything.

June 5 (Thursday). White Swan, 13 Blackheath Road, directly down the street from Deptford Bridge DLR, or about 10 minute's walk down the road directly from New Cross or New Cross Gate stations. It's an evening of performance poetry, with a musician (me) at the end. Totally Boho place but also - hurrah! - amazingly unpretentious. Starts at 9, I'll be on around 10:30. No cover charge.

May 28, (Wednesday). Kings's Head, 49 Chiswell St, Moorgate tube I'll be on at 10:00 for half an hour. No cover charge. Several acts, starting at 8:00

April 29 (Tuesday), Kings's Head, 49 Chiswell St, Moorgate tube I'll be on at 9:00 for half an hour. No cover charge. Several acts, starting at 8:00

April 2 (Wednesday). Troubadour Eclectic at the Troubadour, 265 Old Brompton Road, Earl's Court or West Brompton tube. Doors open at 7:30, music starts at 8:30. I'm not sure what time I'll be on. Admission is £8/7 concessions or with a special flier available at troubadoureclectic.com, or I can email you one.

March 30 (Sunday). Cat's Whiskers at Blackheath Halls. I'm on at 8:00. £5 with flier. Blackheath Halls is just accross the road and up the hill a little from Blackheath British Rail Station (out of London Bridge). The 202 bus stops nearby as well. My friends Kinkajou will also be playing that night, so it should be great. It's a lovely concert hall with brilliant sound.

March 12 (Wednesday) . Tatty Bogle Club, 11 Kingly Court (between Kingly St & Carnaby St, Oxford Circus or Picadilly tube) onstage at 8:45. Admisssion: £4 with flier, £4.50 without. Doors open around 8:00. They usually have a karoake thing after all us sensitive songwriter-types finish at 11:00, so if you get totally trashed during the evening you can stay on and murder 'My Way' if you so desire.
Directions. It can be a bit tricky to find. If you're coming from Picadilly, go up the right side of Regent Stret to the first traffic light. There's an archway there, which is the beginning of Air Street. Keep going straight. You'll cross Glasshouse Street and Brewer Street. Air Street then changes name to John Street, and goes past Golden Square to Beak Street, where it seems to come to an end. However...in front of you is a little alley, which is Kingly Court. Tatty Bogel is near the end, and there is only a small sign outside - first you'll go past a couple of bars and a restaurant on your left and a hairdresser on your right.

Hope to see you there!
