Wagner Overture 'Tannhäuser’
Bruch Violin Concerto no. 1
Geoffrey Silver
Brahms Symphony no. 2

picture of Geoffrey SilverThree romantic German classics form our final concert of the season. The overture to Tannhäuser is one of Wagner’s most substantial, and is particularly suited to performance outside the theatre. Bruch’s 1st Violin Concerto needs no introduction; Geoffrey Silver has played on many an occasion with the SSO and we are pleased to welcome him back after an absence of four years. Brahms’s second symphony is the most genial of his four: good tunes, impassioned climaxes and a joyous finale – just what one requires on what we hope will be a glorious summer’s evening!
