In memory of the WTC tragedy

Standard 1 class being
taken in the community
Christian church hall.
This causes a number of
conflicts with the
community.

St. Peter Paul Primary School, Hlotse, Lesotho, Africa. Standard 1 class having to sit on the floor in the church hall for lessons.

St. Peter Paul Primary School, Hlotse, Lesotho, Africa. Class 2 being taken outdoors under the overhang of rocks.

Class 2 being taught under
the overhang of rocks.
No classroom for them.
Too many distractions
and no class if it rains.

It may look idyllic to our Western eyes, but not very conducive
to learning anything, unless it's natural history or wildlife.

But they persevere!

Class 3 having to be taught
outside under the shade
(what shade I ask?) of
of a tree in bright sunshine.
Sometimes they cannot see
what's written on the
blackboard due to the sun

St. Peter Paul Primary School, Hlotse, Lesotho, Africa. Class 3 students having a lesson under the shade of a tree.

We in the West are always complaining about our
education facilities or lack of them.

If this was in our country then we really would have
something to complaint about!

St. Peter Paul Primary School, Hlotse, Lesotho, Africa. Classes 4 & 5 being taught in the same classroom.

Classes 4 & 5 being taken in
the only classroom.

Very distracting for the pupils
having to ignore the other
teacher and pupils.
