The Anzacs are being built in cooperation with New Zealand as part of the Trans Tasman project. They are based on the German Meko 200 design, but built in Australia. They have a weight allowance built in for future enhancement, and incorporate 'stealth' features.

All are expected to be armed with Harpoon, ESSM and a Phalanx CIWS either during construction or refit.
