Budapest was decommissioned in March 1918 and used as an accomodation ship at Pola submarine base. In June 1918, a 15"/17 howitzer was fitted in place of the forward turret for a planned shore bombardment, which never occured.

In 1920 she was allocated to Britain as reparations, and scrapped in Italy.
