Blackwood:
Blackwoods torpedo tubes were removed in the early 1960s along with the aft 40mm gun. A Type 978
navigation radar was added as well as the Type 974. She was scrapped in 1976.
Duncan:
Duncans aft 40mm gun was removed in the 1960s. A Type 978 navigation radar was added as well as the
Type 974. She was scrapped in 1985.
Dundas:
Dundas had her aft 40mm gun was removed in the 1960s, and a Type 978 navigation radar was added.
She was scrapped at Troon in 1983.
Exmouth:
The torpedo tubes were removed in the early 1960s along with the aft 40mm gun. A Type 978 navigation
radar was added as well as the Type 974.
In 1966 she arrived at Chatham to be converted to gas turbine power. One Rolls Royce Olympus of
5000shp and two Rolls Royce Proteus totalling 6500shp were added. A new funnel was added further aft
than the original which was removed to make way for air intakes. She retained her armament and work
was completed on 20th July 1968.
After trials with gas turbines, Exmouth became part of the 2nd Training Squadron, and was placed
in reserve in December 1976. She arrived for scrapping in February 1979 at Briton Ferry.
Grafton:
Grafton was refitted with a Type 978 navigation radar was added as well as the Type 974.
The aft 40mm gun was removed in the 1960s. She was scrapped in 1971.
Hardy:
Hardy was refitted with a Type 978 navigation radar was added as well as the Type 974.
The aft 40mm gun was removed in the 1960s. She decommissioned in April 1978 and then used as a
stores and accomodation ship at Portsmouth. She was sunk as a target in July 1983, 2 Exocets,
2 SeaSkuas, 1 torpedo and gunfire being needed to sink her.
Keppel:
Keppel was refitted with a Type 978 navigation radar was added as well as the Type 974.
The aft 40mm gun was removed in the 1960s. She scrapped in 1979 at Sittingbourne.
Malcolm:
Malcolm had her torpedo tubes were removed in the early 1960s along with the aft 40mm gun. A Type
978 navigation radar was added as well as the Type 974. She was scrapped in 1978.
Murray:
Murray was refitted with a Type 978 navigation radar was added as well as the Type 974. The aft 40mm
gun was removed in the 1960s. She was scrapped in 1970.
Palliser:
Palliser The torpedo tubes were removed in the early 1960s along with the aft 40mm gun. She was
scrapped in 1983.
Pellew:
A Type 978 navigation radar was added as well as the Type 974 and the aft 40mm gun was removed in
the 1960s. Pellew was scrapped in 1971.
Russell:
A Type 978 navigation radar was added as well as the Type 974 and the aft 40mm gun was removed in
the 1960s. Russell was scrapped in 1985.
