Whilst supporting the bombardment of the Argentinian airstrip at Goose Greem, Ardent was hit by 2 500lb bombs, damaging the SeaCat and starting a fire. She was then hit by 2 more bombs, starting more fires. Although much effort was made to save the ship while under attack, she had to be abandoned.
