Ghurka was fitted with a VDS in 1969. In 1982 she was given a rapid refit for the Falklands war, and recommissioned on 17th July 1982. Due to the Argentinian surrender, she saw no action.

Ghurka was decommissioned on 31st March 1984 at Portsmouth. On 16th October 1985, she recommissioned in the Indonesian navy as the Wilhelmus Zakarias Yohannes.
