In 1982 Tartar was given a rapid refit for the Falklands war, and recommissioned on 17th July 1982. Due to the Argentinian surrender, she saw no action.

Tartar was decommissioned on 31st March 1984 at Portsmouth. On 3rd April 1986, she recommissioned in the Indonesian navy as the Hasanuddin.
