Agincourt was to have been named Captain, but was renamed in 1861. She was first refitted between 1875 and 1877, when her armament was changed to 17 x 9" MLR and 2 x 20pdr breech loaders. She was also given new boilers.

She received a second refit in the early 1880s, when 2 of the 9" guns were replaced by 2 x 6" breech loaders. Between 1891 and 1892, 4 x 4.7" BLR, 8 x 3pdr and 8 machine guns were added, along with 2 torpedo tubes.

n 1904 she was converted to a training ship and renamed Boscawen III. In 1906 she was renamed Ganges II. She was converted to a coal hulk in 1908 and renamed C109.
