History & Modifications
All boats:
All the class were fitted to fire Mk24 Tigerfish torpedoes in 1970.
Cachalot:
Cachalot was decommisioned on 2nd September 1977 and scrapped in 1980.
Finwhale:
Finwhale was decommissioned on 6th November 1978.
Grampus:
Grampus was decommissioned in 1978.
Narwhal:
Narwhal was sunk as a target off Falmouth in 1983.
Porpoise:
Porpoise was decommissioned in 1982. She was sunk as a target on 20th October 1985 in the
Mediterranean.
Rorqual:
Rorqual was sold for scrapping in 1977.
Sealion:
Sealion was decommissioned on 18th December 1987. She was sold for scrapping in 1990.
Walrus:
Walrus was decommissioned in 1986.
