Two Paxman Valenta 16RPA 200SZ diesel generators totalling 4070bhp were fitted with one GEC main motor totalling 5400hp driving one shafts. Maximum speed was 12kts surfaced and 20kts dived. Range was 10000NM @ 12kts surfaced and maximum endurance was 49 days.
