Furst Bismarck served on foreign stations until 1909. Between 1910 and 1915 she was refitted at Kiel Dockyard, and from then was used as a coastal defence ship.

In 1916 she was disarmed and converted to a stokers training ship. In 1919 she was used as an office ship. She was sold to Brand & Son, Audorf and scrapped there.
