Furst Bismarck The first German armoured cruiser was an enlargement of the Victoria Louise design.

The best and most famous German cruisers were still little more than repeats of previous classes with improvements. Secondary armament was reduced to allow the main armament to be increased.


Blucher Class



Blucher Germanys first attempt at a battlecruiser was based upon an incorrect assumption of British warships, assisted by misleading information in Janes. The result was a armoured cruiser which was easily outgunned at the Dogger Bank
