Germanys first true carriers were intended as part of the Z plan for the
buildup of the fleet. They were conventional in appearance, and it was intended
that they carry adapted Me109 and Ju87 aircraft.
Wartime priorities meant that the Graf Zeppelin would never be completed, and the Peter Strasser would be scrapped during construction. |
