Kaiser was refitted at the Imperial Dockyard, Wilhelmshaven, between 1891 and 1895. In May 1904 she was assigned as a harbour ship. On 12th October 1905 she was renamed Uranus. In 1906 she became a barracks ship at Flensburg.
