U5:
U5 was mined off Zeebrugge on 9th December 1914 and was lost with all hands.
U6:
On 28th February 1915, U6 was rammed by the coaster Thordis. She rolled over and apparantly sank, and
the coasters crew were awarded £500 for being the first merchant ship to sink a uboat. However, despite
serious damage, U6 managed to return to Wilhelmshaven. During repairs she was given a 4pdr gun. She
was torpedoed by E16 in the North Sea on 15th September 1915. Five of her crew were saved.
U7:
U7 was lost in the North Sea in January 1915.
U8:
U8 was given a 4pdr gun in early 1915. She was attacked by the destroyers Maori and Gurka off Dover on
4th March 1915 and sank, despite attempts to take her in tow by the destroyer Ure. Thirty of her crew
were saved.
