The nameship was built as the prototype for a NATO hydrofoil, involving Italy,
West Germany and the US. The Germans withdrew to build conventional FAC, and the
Americans preferred the larger homebuilt Pegasus class.
The Sparvieros are fast and well armed for their size, but have a limited range. |
