The Centauros were paid for by the United States, and as a result have a lot of American equipment. They were good seaboats and well armed for their time.

Bergamini Class

Based on a cut down version of the Centauros, the Bergaminis were refitted in the late '60s, seeing the removal of the rear turret and the enlargement of the helicopter pad.

Alpino Class

The Alpinos were an enlarged version of the Bergaminis, with gas turbines. The design was modified between laying down and launching.

Lupo Class

The Lupos are very well armed for their size, and have proved an export success with ships going to Venezuela, Peru and Iraq.

Maestrale Class

The Maestrales are an enlarged versions of the Lupos. They are unusual in having both fixed and trainable torpedo tubes.
