The Ushakov was intended to counter German and Swedish coastal battleships in the Baltic.
Although intended for shallow waters, she had good seakeeping in blue water too. At
Tsushima, she was hit twice below the waterline and once above by Japanese heavy shells
on the 27th May 1905 and fell behind the rest of the squadron.
The next day she was surrounded by Japanese armoured cruisers, and being out of ammunition,
was scuttled by her own crew. Of the crew, 63 did not survive.
