Gangut was renamed Oktyabrskaya Revolutsia on 27th June 1925. She was refitted between October 1934 and April 1934 at the Baltic Shipyard, Leningrad. During WW2, she bombarded Finnish coastal positions in 1939 and 1940.

On the outbreak of war with Germany, she returned to Leningrad. She was damaged off Kronshtadt by German shore guns on 16th September 1941. In an air attack on Leningrad on 4th April 1942, she suffered further damage.

After July 1954, she was used as a training ship. Scrapping began at Kronshtadt in 1956, and was completed at Leningrad by 1959.
