Imperator Alexandr was renamed Volya on 29th April 1917. In May 1918 she was captured by the Germans at Sevastopol and commissioned in the German Navy on 15th October 1918. With the retreat of German forces, the ship came under British control. To prevent her being captured by the Bolsheviks, she was moved to Izmir, Turkey.

On 17th October 1919, she came under White Russian control and renamed General Alekseyev. With the evacuation of the Crimea, she became the flagship of General Peter Wrangels fleet, and was interned at Bizerta, Tunis, on 29th December 1920.

In October 1924, the French offered to return the ship, but due to her poor condition, this was refused by the Russians. In 1934, the French began to scrap the ship at Bizerta. The 12" guns were installed for shore defence at the port.
