The Kievs are direct descendants of the Moskvas, being based on the cancelled Kiev of that class. All three have suffered considerable problems with their engines.


History & Modifications



Kiev:
Kiev was awarded the Order of the Red Banner in January 1985. She was stricken on 30th June 1993 after an engine fire, but has been retained as a parts hulk.

Minsk:
Minsk was sold for scrapping on 14th November 1994, but this was cancelled. On 1st August 1995, she was sold for scrapping to a South Korean company and towed to Kyang-Yang. From there she was resold and towed to Shenzhen in China for use as an entertainments complex.

Novorossiysk:
Novorossiysk was sold to a South Korean company and arrived for scrapping on 18th January 1996. It is not known if she has actually been scrapped.
