Due to the war, there was little chance of the British contractors delivering the steam turbines, the entire class was cancelled, as Russian industry could not make the turbines. |

Alterations to this class may have included the replacement of the 12" guns with the 14" guns intended for the Borodino class. As a result of the German-Soviet agreement of 1939, 6 x 15" guns and twin turrets were ordered from German manufacturers, but never delivered. |

Kronshtadt Moskva Stalingrad |
The Stalingrads were based on the previous Kronshtadt design, and were also cancelled. It was planned that Kronshtadt be fitted with guided missiles, but this was never done. Four others of this class were cancelled before construction began. |
