Gangut Class

Gangut / Oktyabrskaya Revolutsia
Petropavlovsk / Marat / Volkhov
Poltava / Frunze
Sevastopol / Parizhskaya Kommuna
The contracts for these ships were initially won by Blohm & Voss, Hamburg, but the Russian government later gave the orders to local yards. The armour protection was extensive, but light as a result. All except Poltava were modified in the inter war period.

Some of this class carried a seaplane on the third turret.

Imperatritsa Maria Class

Imperator Alexandr III / Volya / General Alekseyev
Imperatritsa Maria
Imperatritsa Ekaterina II / Svobodnaya Rossiya
These ships were modified copies of the previous Gangut class. Armour protection was increased, at the expense of speed.

Imperator Nikolai I Class

Imperator Nikolai I / Demokratiya As Turkey had purchased several foreign ships to use in the Black Sea, Imperator Nikolai I was built to restore Russian superiority there. As she was required to be built as quickly as possible, she was built to a modified Imperatritsa Maria design.

Sovietsky Soyuz Class (Project 23)

Sovietsky Soyuz
Sovietskaya Ukraina
Sovietskaya Rossiya
Sovietskaya Bielorossiya
These were by far the largest Russian warships designed at the time, but the German invasion caused them to be cancelled. The postwar shipyards were unable to complete them.
