The Julietts are a development of the Foxtrot design and 72 were planned. They are
the diesel-electric counterparts of the Echos. Their relatively short range has
led to them being deployed near to Russian territory.
They were restricted by the need to launch their missiles on the surface, and the need for midcourse guidance for maximum range. All except K156, K85, K24 and K68 were given an anechoic coating. K156 and K85 were made of low magnetic steel. |
