A maximum of 6 x 21" and 12 x 16" torpedoes can be carried. In addition, 4 x P-6D / SS-N-3 Shaddock SLCM are carried in external launch tubes that can only be fired from the surface.

Powerplant:
Two D-43 diesel generators totalling 8000bhp and two PG-141 main motors totalling 6000hp were fitted driving two shafts. There are also two PG-140 creep motors totalling 1000hp, with a single 2D-42 diesel of 1750bhp.

Maximum speed is 16kts surfaced and 18kts submerged. Maximum range is 18000NM @ 7kts snorkelling, 27NM @ 17kts submerged electric or 810NM @ 2.7kts submerged electric.
