Sable:
Work on conversion started at Buffalo, New York, shortly after Wolverine was converted
there. The superstructure was removed and a steel flightdeck with overhanging sides and
stern was added. A small island structure was added to simulate real conditions.
Sable carried no aircraft and spent her career in the Great Lakes for pilots from
local airfields to use for 'touch and gos'.
