The Kearsages featured better protection than their predecessors. They also introduced superimposed turrets. Intended to save weight, this feature caused blast damage as the turrets had to be aimed together. |

The Mississippis were smaller editions of the Connecticuts, intended as a cost saving measure. Both were soon sold to Greece, and sunk in WW2. |
