26 & 28 September 2008:

New England Light Opera will perform The Gilbert and Sullivan Radio Hour - Sullivan's Cox and Box followed by Gilbert's Happy Arcadia. The evening is set as a 1940's live radio show with sound effects and all! This version of Happy Arcadia is an edition prepared by Jonathan Strong, using some of Sullivan's lesser known music. The Radio Hour is directed by Peter A. Carey and music directed by Mark Morgan. Performances are: Friday, September 26 at 8:00 pm and Sunday, September 28 at 3:00 pm in the Salem State College Recital Hall, Central Campus, 71 Loring Avenue, Salem, MA. Tickets are $20/general and $15 seniors and non-SSC students. Tickets may be purchased by calling: 978-542-6290 or visiting www.salemstate.edu/arts.

15 October 2008:

Light Opera of New York (LOONY) will perform Gilbert's Eyes and No Eyes, using the score by Florian Pascal, at the "West Side Y", a small theatre on west 63rd Street in New York. More details will follow.

17-18 October 2008:

The Rockford Operetta Party will present selections from Gilbert's Dulcamara at 7:30pm. This is the piece's first modern revival, and a world premiere. New music has been written by Scott Farrell (though he retained three of the original numbers), and additional lyrics have been written by John Spartan. This programme is paired with Spartan and Farrell's comedy Not So Good as La Traviata, and will be presented in Rockford, Illinois (USA) at Central Christian Church. Admission is $7 per person.

4 April 2009:

Kingsbury Amateur Operatic Society (KAOS) and friends will perform a semi-staged version of Princess Toto, as part of the Gilbert and Sullivan Society Convention at Grim's Dyke, Harrow Weald. The role of Princess Toto will be performed by Katie Beaver. NEW BOOK:

Gilbert Without Sullivan: six radio scripts by Stephen Wyatt from the BBC Radio 4 series of that name: adapted from Gilbert short stories and plays. The titles included are: The Finger of Fate, The Burglar's Tale, An Elixir of Love, Wide Awake, Mr Foster's Good Fairy and A Sensation Novel. This self-published volume is available from Amazon.
