| Before I started to use the angle grinder I
removed the petrol tank. |
| With the suspension units removed I could get at
the weld between the sheet that has been used to repair the floor. |
| Although I could get at most of the welds there
was still some that I could not reach. As front ends of the side floor panels had gone I
decided I would have to replace them and put a new front floor and bulk panel in. So I cut
through the plate from the top to get at the welds underneath. |
| I removed all the bolts holding the body to the
chassis. most of them bolt the body to the outer flange on the top of the chassis and are
easy to find. As the threaded part is underneath it was rusted on most of them. They
either sheared of or I used the angle grinder. |
| Before lifting the body it was necessary to
disconnect a lot of things. The steering column is disconnected by removing the bolt where
it joins the rack. The bolt must be removed completely as it passes through a slot in the
column. |
| The heater control cable was disconnected. |
| The clutch cable is detached by lifting the end
of the cable out of the clevis behind the pedal. |
| The gear linkage is disconnected by removing the
pin on the top of the gear lever. |
| The speedometer was removed by disconnecting it
at the gearbox. Remove the bolt that is underneath the gearbox. Take care as the gear
drops out of the end of the cable |
| The hand brake can be disconnected by removing a
pin. |
| The accelerator linkage can be disconnected. |
| The choke cable can be removed from the
carburetor. |
| The brake pipes can be removed from the master
cylinder. There is also a clip holding the pipe onto the bulkhead. |
| I put tags on the cable connectors and
disconnected the wiring loom from the engine. The battery had been removed some time ago. |
| The headlamp dipper was connected from the
headlamp bar. |
| The petrol pipe was removed from the carbureter. |
| Eventually the body could be lifted. |
