Some of the screws that hold the plastic trim
can't be reached with a screwdriver without removing the windscreen. The seal has to be
prised from the inside.
All the electrical connections were labeled
before removal.
The heater duct was removed.
The wiper arms
were removed and the nuts on the spindles removed. Undoing a few screws allowed the wiper
assembly to be removed.
The plastic trim at each end was removed along
with the sound insulation.
All the tiny nuts that hold the ventilator on
were removed except one which was rusted. This one had to be ground off.
The construction of the front A post encourages
rust. It is hollow with slots that allow water to enter If the edge of the rubber seal
doesn't touch the body.
The side window openings can also rust due to
water being trapped behind the seal. It hasn't rained for a couple of weeks (the body is
outside at the moment) but there was still water behind the sealwhen I removed them.
