Rear Brake Adjusters

As the rear brake adjusters are very hard to turn I decided to take them apart. At worst I could always weld the cam back on the shaft. cam.jpg (3829 bytes)
I used the angle grinder to removed the peening from the shaft protruding through the cam. Here is a reconstruction. I used a short bolt ground down and a G-cramp. The spanner if deeper than the shaft head. cam1.jpg (10852 bytes)
With a bit of persuasion it all came apart. I was suprised to find two washers under the bolt head. They turned out to be Belville-type spring washers. They put an axial load on the shaft and stop it moving once it is correctly adjusted. bits.jpg (31843 bytes)
