The front of the side floors were missing. They
had been replaced with a thick sheet of steel which I removed.
Instead of buying new
floors I made some panels up.
I had access to a guillotine, a folder and a
swaging maching.
I put a joggle at each end of the panels. It is
easier to weld to old metal if there is some new metal behind it.
The old metal is only
0.7mm and if there is some rust then it is even thinner.
I welded both sides. It was rather windy so it
was a difficult to weld properly.
I will come back on a calm day and finish the
welding.
My MIG welding is getting better.
I use the
"go-for-it" approach. Turn it up a bit. Helmit down, pull the trigger and start
moving. You have to start moving straight away or you burn a hole.
