Repaired right front corner van box

Now that the body is the right way up I can get at the right-hand side.

There is rust here caused by salt and water from the road getting up past the petrol tank. This compartment is open at the bottom.

I started to cut away the old panel before I remembered to take the first photograph! 2.jpg (56878 bytes)
I used a spotweld drill to remove the spotwelds.

It is very difficult to remove the rusty metal between the rear door pillar and the cross member.

A new panel was made and spotwelded into position. Yes, I have borrowed a spotwelded which makes it a lot easier when dealing with whole panels.

I made up a new stiffener for the edge by rolling a strip of sheet metal.

Just a few Mig welds where the spot welder wouldn't reach and the job was finished. 5.jpg (64627 bytes)
