Replaced output shaft seals

One of the brake drums had some oil on it so I suspected a leaking seal from the transmission.
The 6 nuts are quite difficult to get at.
Once undone the unit pulls out easily.
The brake backplate is left dangling between the bearing housing and the drum mounting. (See above)
To undo the nut that is at the base of the splined shaft (above) you need a special tool. You can by one from Wigan but I made my own from a 6 point 29mm socket from Drapers and a length of tube.

You will need a hydraulic press ( or a fly press) to push out the shaft. You also need to push out the bearing to get at the seal. Of course you need a press to put it all back together.

I also modified the brake cams the same as I did for the rear brakes. (See 29th July 2001.) Having the cams removable makes it easier to tighten the 6 nuts.
