From a James Pottinger free plan with the October 2004 edition of Model Boats

Plywood and Balsa construction

PROPELLER = Raboesch 3 blade 30mm diameter brass

SPEED CONTROL = Electronize FR15HX

RUDDER CONTROL = Futaba FP-S148 servo

TRANSMITTER = Futaba T6EXA 40MHz

RECEIVER = Futaba R136F

POWER SUPPLY = Two 6V 3.4Ah lead acid gel batteries

The plan was carefully photographed using a Canon 300D digital camera. The frames and keel were then edited and drawn in Photoshop, printed on A4 ink jet paper and stuck to the ply with a Prit stick

Keel is 6mm ply inner with 6mm Oak stem and Redwood edging and assembled using ZAP epoxy

Frames are 1/8th ply

Assembly jig on right has slots cut at frame station spacing with the depth adjusted to follow the deck line

After the 305mm stainless steel prop tube was set in the keel it was assembled with the frames in the jig.

Half planked

Planking is 3mm balsa - medium hard - cut into 6.0mm strips and shaped as required to follow the hull line.

All frames and planking set in place with ZAP thin cyano

Fully planked, starting work on the deck and hatch.

Two layers of glass reinforced plastic have been applied to the hull.

Deck planked in 2mm by 6mm Lime with black card between.

Ready for the SWAMBC scale steering competition with 18hrs to spare, we scored a 3rd and a 4th place in the Pilot class.
