Flaps, Spring Air retracts, - I keep building these planes I do not have the confidence to fly, emotional factor too high I guess. Not flown yet, have tried, problem with nose gear down angle and long grass. Featured in Radio Control Model World

Wot 4 - 5

Built : 1999
Span : 54 in
Engine : Super Tigre 45S/WestonUK power pipe
Chris Foss kit
Pilot error - took off with the flaps connected to the aileron servo connection in the receiver. Do a pre-flight check EVERY TIME. Plane only three months old. Glass covered wing on this one. Not as bad to do as expected
Built a new one
Gloster Gladiator

Built : 1999-2000
Span : 45 in
Engine : OS26FS
Brain Taylor plan
I reduced Brian's plan to 45 inch span - to potter around on a fine summer evening. I made the mistake of fitting full size servos in this little biplane, wishing I had used minis to keep the weight down. It is 4.5lbs and I wonder if the little four stroke is going to struggle a bit. We shall see. Covered in Litespan. Maiden flight 0n 22 July 2001.
Wot 4 - 6

Built : 1998
Span : 54 in
Engine : Super Tigre 45S/WestonUK power pipe
Chris Foss kit
My current Wot4. I like to keep one for the heavy weather days Glass covered wing again. Will probably build a new one eventually - I reckon Chris Foss owes me a free kit!!!!!!!!!!!!
DH71

Built : 2000
Span : 50 in
Engine : OS40FS Surpass
Brian Price plan
Although balanced precisely as required on the plan, this was a very twitchy maiden flight and Peter did well to keep it aloft. Have now added about 7oz lead and it is ready to be flown again Quick little thing so I still haven't got my potter around on a fine summer evening job yet. Following an email from a chap in South Africa I made him a present of it. Hope it behaves better in his sky.
Ryan STM

Built : 2000
Span : 62.5 in
Engine : OS52FS Surpass
Philip Kent plan
Finally finished this one in October 2001 - about 2 years in the building. The Spectrum paint finish is a close approximation to the John Gosney version - including a full chequer board underneath.
Maiden flight on 24 November 2001
T 33

Built : 2000
Span : 39in
Engine : Electric DF
Kyosho kit
My first ARTF, bought with proceeds from the Acro Wot sale. The T33 is fun in a box., It flew as built with no trim changes required. Lovely little thing, I would not be too surprised if a few more turned up at our field. Only change I made was to follow the SMC recommendation to use a 9.6v Sanyo 2000 flight pack.
Lysander

Built : Started 12 November 2001
Span : 81 in
Engine : OS70 Surpass
Dennis Bryant plan
"There are aeroplanes and there is the Lysander..."
This has always been high on my wish list so here is my version. Took around 3 years to complete. The panel lines and paint work were done by my son - all airbrushed Spectrum paint - lovely job.
Toot Sweet

Built : 2002
Span : 36in
Engine : OS40FS Surpass
Peter Miller plan, free with September 2002 RCM&E. Having retired the DH71 my OS40FS Surpass was lying idle until I saw this design for that engine. Not the prettiest model but Peter Miller says it performs well so here is my attempt. Flying shots to follow after covering, going to use film, my favorite hate after Fibafilm.
Kestrel

Built : 2003 from the free plan in RCM&E (April 2003)
Span : 48in (total)
Engine : OS 40FS Surpass
Flight details to follow....
G-ALEX

Built : August 2003

Made by my son and I as a 2nd birthday present for my grandson
Construction: Solid Redwood fusalage, Solid Oak wings and tail surfaces
Span : 15in
Engine : None fitted, it will need at least a full size Merlin to get the 2lb 2oz airborne

Miles M20

Built :January 2004
Span : 40 in
Engine : OS26FS
Scaled from Gordon Whitehead plan (MW 2600), to fit OS26FS.
P51D

Built - bought kit at Sandown 2001 :
Span : 65 in
Engine : OS70FS Surpass
Topflight kit
The structure in the background is a new shed for my gardener wife, this follows a new rear fence and a new tomato house. This has cut into my building time a bit, but we have to keep 'em happy don't we!!!!!!!!. Reckon that shed will need at least a pair of 60s to get it in the air.
